My Coach Doesn’t Like Me

By Ken Spangenberg 4 weeks agoNo Comments

I’m sure we’ve all heard this one whether it’s from a player, teammate, or son right? Well I hate to break it to you, but coaches 100% have favorites. BUT they do it for a good reason (with a few exceptions unfortunately).

Why would a coach have a favorite? Because that player makes their life easier and helps the team win! Here is a sort list of what “favorites” do consistently…
PRACTICE hard
Play hard
Only have to be told things once
Take pride in doing the little things
Support their teammates
Stay out of trouble off the field
Don’t pout when things don’t go their way
Care about winning
And the list could go on and on, but those are the big ones…

Wouldn’t that type of player be your favorite too? What’s stopping you from being that player?

The answer is nothing. Those are all things you can either choose to do or not to do. Just remember, if you don’t do them, but expect to be the coaches’ go to guy.

The best players take pride in doing all of these things, NOT just the things that they enjoy doing. Realize the difference. Help your team win. Be obsessed.
